About Us | Our History
Our journey with this magnificent property began in 2018 when we acquired it from an elderly Sardinian farming couple. The farm’s centrepiece, a majestic tower, stood as the first structure, serving as a strategic beacon for the family, signalling to the surrounding areas.
Upon acquiring the property, we embarked on an ambitious renovation project, preserving its historical essence while incorporating it with modern comforts and unique features. The tower, once smaller with a roof, was elevated and transformed into a square-top structure. We added a terrace above the tower, providing an idyllic spot for star-gazing, a delightful bonus that enhances the farm’s charm.
Over the course of two years, the farm underwent a remarkable transformation. The stone façade was meticulously restored, and the interiors were completely reimagined. We unearthed hidden spaces, revealing an interior courtyard obscured by previous additions. Ceilings in the kitchen were raised, and a central staircase was added, seamlessly blending the old charm with contemporary design.
The original annex was reduced in size, allowing room for a luxurious spa beneath the main house. This subterranean sanctuary now houses a Hammam, Sauna, gym, and a winter pool, offering a tranquil retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation.
The landscape surrounding the farm was also thoughtfully curated. Vast vineyards, spanning 9.25 hectares, were planted, yielding Vermentino, Viognier, Merlot, Sangiovese, and Syrah grapes. In addition to the vineyards, 500 olive trees were planted, producing our exquisite olive oil. Furthermore, our Sangiovese grapes are used to craft Balsamic vinegar of Modena, adding another dimension to our gastronomic delights.
Amidst the renovation process, unexpected surprises emerged, adding to the farm’s mystique. During vineyard planting, an unexploded American WWII bomb was discovered, necessitating a careful detonation that left a mark on our vineyard.
Additionally, a hidden tomb, containing the remains of Etruscan women and adolescents dating back to 620 BC, was unearthed within the entrance hall staircase, unveiling the farm’s ancient past. The conservator of Siena confirmed our farm’s historical significance, revealing that we sit atop a cemetery of Jewellers from the Etruscan times, inspiring the name Tesoro, meaning ‘treasure’.
Today, our farm stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of history, modernity, and natural beauty. It is a place where the past and present intertwine, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the enchanting charm of centuries gone by, while indulging in the luxuries of the present.
